| Q. Can I submit more than one entry? A. As long as they're in different categories, yes, but you have a maximum of three, simply because we don't want the odds stacked in anyone's favor THAT much. Q. Is slash/yaoi/yuri/het/mpreg/wing!fic/neko!slavery/ETC allowed? A. Sure, as long as it fits the crossover. I warn you now that all judges are partial toward slash, and only one of us has yet to write yuri. Some are more squickable than others, yet we have one, uh, disturbingly kinky judge, so GO AHEAD. Make her day. Q. When you say "canon", does that mean I have to keep canon relationships? A. Of course not! It's FANDOM, people. Kirk and Spock can totally get it on for all we care. Q. How graphic can we be? A. We do not want JUST PORN. Graphic violence is just fine, graphic sex is okay, but please, please, PLEASE remember the plot. And if you're under 17, DO NOT TELL US. We will feel like we're corrupting the innocent and cry ourselves to sleep. Q. Who are these "judges" you keep mentioning? A. See the Judging page. We're the ones who decide if you get our money for writing well. (On a side note, I am Judge Moofy, as the others are painfully html-deficient. I mock them.) Q. What formatting should my story be in? A. A DIFFICULT QUESTION. After deliberation, we'd prefer an attached word document, as in one of those swanky "TITLE.doc" things, with all formatting (italics, bold, underlining, spacing, ETC) done in word. Q. Does it have to be a new story? A. YES. A THOUSAND TIMES YES. Must be SPECIFICALLY written for this contest. If we find it anywhere else, you and your entry are immediately disqualified. Sorry. Q. What do you define as a Mary Sue? A. please see this wikipedia entry. We are predominately going with the "As seen in Star Trek" version, although cardboard characters are also a no-no. Just...CREATIVITY, please. Q. How importunt iz spellign? A. VERY. Poor grammar and spelling makes all judges collectively wince. Typos are unavoidable, we know, but...well. We can tell the difference between bad spelling and grammar and when you pressed the spacebar too fast. To be continued, most likely, because people keep asking us weird questions! |
