| Canada Can Make a Difference! | ||||||||||||||
| Canada has been a great champion of human rights around the world and has exerted considerable pressure on countries which violate these basic rights. For example, recently a Canadian citizen was released from a forced labour camp in China (he was sentenced to 3 years for practising his religious faith) after Canadian officals intervened on his behalf. In light of Canada's interest in human rights abuses in foreign countries, it is strange that this country would allow an arm of its own government to subject someone to these same abuses, and even to face a sentence of death. We realize that there are serious, wide-ranging violations of basic human rights going on all over the world today. Many people are working very hard to bring about changes in countries where human and religious rights are horribly abused. Nevertheless, what we are requesting now is your support in preventing the abuse of human rights and the danger to the life of a beautiful, caring and compassionate lady which is happening within Canadian borders. |

| Immigration Canada has reportedly stated in news reports that they will not forcibly remove Lucy from the church where she has sought sanctuary. However, they have made it very clear that they will deport her if she steps outside the church. Lucy feels relatively safe in the church. However, she is very frightened about what will happen to her if she falls into the hands of the Chinese government. We believe she has reason to be afraid. Support in Canada is growing every day to keep Lucy Lu in the country. Every church leader, labour union, politician and support group we have contacted has encouraged us to continue to seek support both nationally and internationally. It is in this spirit that we ask you now for your support. |
