Marie Fisher     Last year another friend, Donna, introduced me to one of her very good friends -- Marie Fisher of Memphis, TN.  Since then, Marie and I have been almost as good of friends as Donna and I.  She is one of the smartest ladies I know and has taught both me and Donna tons of stuff about water gardening.  She has forgotten more about water gardening than I could ever hope to know.  Marie, like Donna, is a very generous lady.  Last Spring she sent me 8 tropical water lily corms, an exceptional hardy lily, and my favorite lily, Euryale,  and this Spring she sent me 6 rare lotus -- and asked for nothing in return.  That is the way Marie is.  Gives and gives and then gives some more but asks nothing in return.

     Marie also sends me some very interesting pictures!  One of the most interesting I have included to the left -- a picture of Marie's Shnauzer, Angel, standing on a Victoria leaf.  I love the picture so much that I have decided to include it with her profile.

     Marie has an AWESOME collection of tropical and hardy lilies, lotus, and bog plants.  If I had a pond like hers, I guess I would too!!!  Her pond, pictured above, is HUGE!!!  It is full of water lilies AND she has to set up additional kiddie pools just to get all of her collection in water!!!

     In the 2 years that I have known Marie, she has proven to be scared of nothing...  Except snakes.  Snakes are Marie's one true enemy.  Her neighbors are no doubt constantly ammused by the antics of this kewl lady chasing snakes around with a shovel.  I know I would be.  Every situation involving a snake and Marie always ends the same...  With a dead snake and a victorious Marie waving her bloody weopon of choice (usually a shovel) high in the air in a victory dance.  Snakes beware.

     Marie's friendship with me is also one that is built to last.  She is a friggin genius when it comes to water gardening, though you won't hear her say that.  She takes credit for much less than she deserves.  That is just the way Marie is...  Humble.
When you are as crazy about water gardening as Marie, you need a HUGE pond to keep all your water lilies and goldfish in.  But then what happens when you run out of room???  You set up a yard full of kiddie pools and pot your lotus all the way around your pond!
DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! Marie's dog, Angel, is shown here performing an amazing acrobatic skill.  She is standing on a Victoria leaf that is completely unsupported.  The cardboard you see is only there to keep Angel's claws from damaging the pads!
