In 1971 Morrison
moved with his girlfriend to Paris with the intention of starting a new
life. They were both clouded with drug and alcohol problems. This was concluded
when on July 4th Morrison was found dead in his bath tub. There was speculation
to the exact cause of his death as no autopsy was performed but it is believed
Morrison’s body had given in to the abuse it had undergone and could take
no more of the drugs and abuse.
One of the most influential performers and song writers was now dead. The
Doors tried to continue as a band without him but of course it was not
possible. The rest of the band members went their separate ways soon after.
The Doors music is still hugely popular. New live albums are always being
released and books and biographies on the band and Jim Morrison are always
being written.
Morrison once said “I think the highest and lowest points are the
important ones. Anything else is just in between. I want the freedom to
try everything.” Morrison succeeded in trying everything.
