Wire Jewellery

Rings
Wire Rings Adjustable Wire Rings Wire Rings showing bands Wrapped Wire Ring
To start, I am just learning how to do this so be kind :-) I'm gointo to describe these rings from left to right.
Picture 1 top: Adjustable Ring, copper/stainless steel, pattern came from http://www.wire-sculpture.com/patterns.html, some neat stuff there.
Picture 1 bottom: My first attempt at creating my own design of ring, brass, leaves a lot to be desired but at least it looks like a ring.
Picture 2 top and bottom: Theses are the same patterns (obviously), I was using the pattern to experiment with different wires, twists, etc., the top one is all copper and the bottom is the copper/stainless steel one again.
Picture 3: Just a side view of Picture 1 so that you can see the bands.
Picture 4: A Wrapped-band Ring, another experiment to see what the band would look like wrapped (there it is) and to see if i could mount a stone this way (it stays in, but don't breathe hard). I don't like using glues or epoxys in any of my projects so I'm always attempting new ways of holding things together.

These are fun to make. The necklace in Picture 1 is knitted brass. The 'hook and eye' clasp is brass as well. Picture 2 and 3 are a couple of my tumbled stones, wrapped in brass. Making cabs like this can be a little tricky on fit, but there are ways to tweak it a little tighter. When I first made them, they seemed kind of flimsy, but they have stood up to a couple of months of wearing and being tossed around. With some practice I will get better at them, but overall I am pleased. They don't look sooooo bad that people run screaming from the room, and they've stayed together. What more can I ask for?

Enjoy,
Brett
