May 2008. This was the memorable day when we shrank our new tweed, a gift from the late Bernard O'Hagan of Redshank Kiltmakers, Inveraray.
July 2007 was when we did our first waulking at Auchindrain Museum, near Inveraray in Argyll. Auchindrain is an old farming township, many of whose buildings have been restored and furnished to depict life in the nineteenth century. To have the chance to waulk in such perfect surroundings was a very special experience for us. We now feel that Auchindrain Sgioba Luaidh's spiritual home!
In the summer of 2007 Sgioba Luaidh took part in a Family Fun Day run by the Forestry Commission at Glenbranter in Argyll. We had a great day waulking under our awning, breaking only for tea and venison burgers. The midges were fierce, but Rhona and Adrian had come prepared! There were some torrential showers, but hey! this is Argyll! We coped!
June 2008. Four days of Living History at Auchindrain. We fair fancy ourselves in our new Victorian costumes! Particularly delighted with the mutches, which have been rolling off Innes' production line!
At the end of June 2008 six of us headed for Cockermouth in the Lake District to take part in Woolfest, an extravaganza of all things woolly! We ran a waulking workshop for a dozen people, from all points between Oban and the Isle of Wight.
May 2008. We were invited by the re-enactment group Na Fir Dhleas to take part in their Jacobite Day at Beinglas Farm in Glen Falloch, at the head of Loch Lomond. We had a great day - lovely weather, and lots of brawny Jacobites to admire!
21 - 25 July 2008 was the CHANTICA project at Auchindrain, when young people from different European countries engaged in a variety of activities. Each day Theatre Alba gave a performance of The Magic Quest, which was - magic!
