| Br br bleith | |||||||||||||||||
| This one is good fun! It's a very old song, dating back to the time when corn was ground by hand in a stone quern. The grain - oats or barley - was fed into the hole in the top grindstone which was turned by means of a stick. | |||||||||||||||||

| "Quern, quern, grind. Quern, quern, grind. Old woman, grind the quern, and you will get the quern bannock." "I will not, my dear. It's not my job!" "Quern, quern, grind. Quern, quern, grind. Old woman, grind the quern and you will get an end of cheese." "I will not, my dear. It's not my job!" "Quern, quern, grind. Quern, quern, grind. Old woman, grind the quern and you will get the son of the man-of -the-house." "I will feed (the quern) and grind. I will feed and grind!" |
