New Orleans - January 2003

A group of us met up in New Orleans in January 2003 (Super Bowl weekend).  I have made a type of tradition the last few years to gather friends and family together for my birthday weekend - a convenient excuse to travel, etc.  Anywho, this year I decided to invite friends from Baltimore, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio (my brother and his then-girlfriend).  Extra conveniently, my brother made this his wedding proposal- engagement celebration weekend too.  A lot of fun.

New Orleans was abnormally cold for that particular weekend.  But, we had lots of fun nonetheless...

I met a great gal - weekend romance - while there...
Regretably, my statuesque lady turned out to be cold as stone...DOH!
(It's my site...I get to make lame jokes)
                    This Guy RULES!!!
We went to the piano bar at Pat O'Briens.  This guy used a serving tray and brass fingertips as percussion.  He played deadpan style to the druken UT frat boy audience.  I tipped him $10.  He stopped, gave me a big smile, a thumbs up, and a look which said, "Thanks, soul brother."  He ruled.  So...when in New Orleans, look for the percussion guy...

My brother planned the proposal - rented a horse-drawn carriage (a ride through the French Quarter), the proposal, and we were planted in and around Jackson Square taking some photos.  We greeted the newly-engaged couple with tons of roses.  We helped Pete and Lorena celebration their engagement at dinner later that evening at Bella Luna (highly-recommend that place!).  Pete and Lorena married in May...
