| Lesson Plan #1 Nouns for ESL students using digital cameras. 1. To really make nouns come alive for your students, you should first cover the boring definition of a noun. 2. Now, you split your kids into teams, depending on how many digital cameras you have, and send them out around the school to take pictures of things that are classified as nouns. 3. Compile a "book" of all the pictures on Power Point, according to the teams. 4. Have the different teams teach one another and other classes (lower ESL if available) using the Power Point presentation. 5. Then, make a game of coming up with adjectives to describe the nouns, team against team. |
| Lesson Plan #2 Listening, reading and content appropriate DVD use. 1. ESL students need to know Shakespeare as much as any other student. So, to teach "Hamlet" use a DVD video of "The Lion King." 2. Have students watch the video in English with English subtitles. 3. Have students watch certain parts (which scenes you deem important) again, this time with Spanish (if majority of students are Spanish speakers) subtitles. 4. Take a single scene and have students describe in Spanish and then translate into English. 5. Explain the similarities between "Hamlet" and "The Lion King" while showing freeze frames of the particularily important scenes. |
