TESTS
1.  Short Answer Tests----
       a)  fill-in-the-blank, sentence completion, multiple
            choice, true/false, matching
       b)  essay questions should be turned into lists
       c)  star items that the should do first
2. 
Oral Tests----
      a)  read tests prior to or during test time
       b)  during tests, reread, reword or paraphrase
3. 
Modified Tests---
      a)  Give student additional time to complete regular
             test.
       b)  Modify scoring according to how many questions
             were completed.
       c)  Provide physical assists--
            1.  provide a 3x5 card with window to focus on
                 one question at a time.
            2.  use book marks to track visually
            3.  break up the test pages into different types of
                 questions.
4. 
Lower the Readability----
        a)  original question--  Compare and contrast the
              deciduous forest and the tundra.
         b)  revised question--  Tell what the deciduous forest
              and the tundra have that are the same?
              What is not the same, or different?
The whole point is NOT  that you are making it "easier" for the students.  You are assisting them to succeed and varying your style of teaching. 
Students don't achieve if you make it too difficult or use little tricks to see who paid attention.  These students are already at a disadvantage and do NOT need any more mountains to climb.
