Crosman 2240 Review

Impressions/Appearance
The Crosman 2240 is a single shot bolt action .22caliber pistol. This gun has enjoyed a surge in popularity, and there are many simple ideas on how to improve its feel and accuracy. It feels when firing a lot like my Ruger Mark I or (presumably a Mark II). This gun has a fair amount of metal on it for a $50 gun. The grips are relatively small and completely ambidexterous. The only problem firing this gun left handed is that the saftey can occasionally be accidentally engaged while reaching for the trigger.

Operations
12g CO2 cartriges are loaded into a tube beneath the barrel the cartrige is then tapped by firing the gun once without a pellet.
To cock the gun one opens the bolt and pulls it fully to the rear.
The gun is loaded like any other single shot bolt action.
The trigger pull is very stiff, but that is easily corrected.

Sights
The rear sights while adjustable are not adjustable in any sort of repeatable fashion. You loosen a screw and slide a plate up and down for elevation. To adust for windage the process is similar, you loosen the screw that holds the sight to the plastic breech and slide it sideways..there are marks etched into the breech to provide some sense relative motion. There are no mounting rails for any other sort of sights, they are however available from Crosman as part #459MT 3/8" dovetail base.

All in all a pretty nice pistol for the price. I have no good way to test accuracy nor velocity ... but others have and their results are avalible on the web. I am planning some modifications but I thought I would review it before I started changing anything.
