| Nicolle's Key News! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I have to have a newsletter done by the 10th. If you have any articles you would like to submit to the paper, please do. Please send them to me at [email protected] or [email protected] | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| If you'd like to see a copy of the September (or any past newsletters for that matter) newsletter ask your club president or faculty advisor. One of them should have gotten it. Or you can now download a copy of my newsletter through this website! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| My last issue of Nicolle's Key News is almost out... For now, look in your mailboxes for the February edition :) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Hey everyone! So you're going to be writing a newsletter, huh? Here's some fun topics that you can discuss in it... | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Projects! Current projects in your club- report on what is going on presently so members will be aware. Announce times, date, where it is at, and who it is directed towards. This will also help get more help at the events/activities. Future Projects- announce future project ideas, maybe someone will be interested and would like to be a chair! Or maybe you have an event planned, but no idea where the money raised is going to go... Perfect place to ask for suggestions! Past Projects- Show off your handywork! Tell everyone what a good job you've done and how much you raised! This renews enthusiasm and shows everyone what your club is really all about. |
| Info Club Information- You can add a spot where you can announce member achievements or awards! If you want, you can even add member and officer biographies, or birthdays! By adding a personal fact, your members will feel more appreciated and connected with the club. Key Club Info- Add some fun Key Club Trivia! It always helps to keep your members educated! For some fun facts go to www.keyclub.org |
| District Projects- Use your newsletter to keep the club updated on the district projects and how much you've contributed! American Cancer Society amfAR Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center Kamp Kiwanis March of Dimes Lupus Foundation Leukemia and Lymphoma Society St. Jude's Local Projects |
| Governor's Project- Perfect opportunity to talk about this year's Governor's Project, "Senior Citizens and improving the quality of their golden years" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Dates Add different days to remember... the next club meeting, divisional date, event dates, when dues need to be turned in, holidays, International days, Key Club Week, Convention dates, etc. |
| Division Lieutenant Governor- I bet if you ask your lieutenant governor (which is most likely me) to write you an article for your newsletter, she will! (or he if you are from a different division... :0) ). By having your lieutenant governor write, you will have more indepth articles concerning the New York District and the division! Division Projects- Keep your club notified on division projects your lieutenant governor may have organized. You want your club to be represented, so let everyone know ahead of time! Other Clubs- Write about other clubs in your newsletter... that way your club can see what's going on in other schools. |
| Things You Should NOT do: Mispell things- You have a spellcheck, use it! THEN reread everything with your own spelling skils, or have someone else reread it for you. Distribute false information- don't make up dates or times you don't know... If you're not sure ask! And always double check things! Use illegiable fonts- If you use a font or color no one can read, see, or understand, your newsletter won't exactally flourish. Be biased- Don't let personal emotions get in the way when you are writing your newsletter. I mean, sure you can say "Our club rocks!" but don't insult a member you don't like in your newsletter! Be Wasteful- DOUBLE SIDE! and copy in black, grey, and white! Save resources and money by doing this! Give up!- Never give up on your newsletter! It's alright to take a break and gather your thoughts again, in fact I highly suggest it! No matter what you do don't get frustrated, I'm here to help if that happens! |
| Tips: Proofread everything!!! It looks really unprofessional if you have spelling errors in your newsletter. Variety- Have different people write articles. No one wants to hear the same thing every issue! Familiar- Keep the format familiar to the reader so he/she will be able to recognize and feel comfortable with your newsletter. Content- If you don't have anything interesting to say, don't feel obliged to publish a newsletter for that month! Although it is suggested you do have one almost every month, don't be afraid to, combine two months together every once and a while! Your newsletter is there to entertain and inform your readers... not bore them! Clip Art/Pictures- add in fun pictures and clip art to liven your newsletter. Fonts- Change fonts (legible ones... look over --->) when you start a new article to distinguish the begining of a new section! Double side your newsletter- Don't waste paper by single siding things! |
