| American Cancer Society- The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community- based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service. | amfAR- American Foundation for AIDS Research.This organization is dedicated to researching AIDS and HIV, in hopes of finding new treatements, preventions, and advocating the AIDS policies to the public. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Lupus Foundation-Lupus causes the body's immune system to attack itself, attacking kidneys, brain, blood, heart, skin or lungs. Symptoms include achy joints, fevers over 100 degrees, skin rashes, fatigue(extreme or prolonged), rashes, sun/light sensitivity, blood clotting, mouth or nose ulcers, seizures, and several other signs. However, there is no cure. The Lupus Foundation works to find a cure and better treatment for the disease. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Kamp Kiwanis- a camp for underprivledged and handicapped children to go to. The Kamp is made so ALL children can experience camp life and the commadery. "Where Kiwanis Builds Tomorrow's Memories". | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Leukemia and Lymphomia Society-they dedicate themselves to help cure and prevent leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins, and myeloma. They also work to ease the pain and improve the lives of patients and families affected by one of those diseases. The disease is not genetic but comes from a genetic injury of DNA in a single cell- the injury leads to abnormal development, the cell then multiplies and affects the human body system from producing healthy blood cells. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center (KPTC)- The KPTC hospitals are made to specifically treat trauma (accidental injury) patients. KPTC is for all children- including teenagers. Because many hospitals do not have the necessary equiptment for a major trauma case, the KPTC is made for such instances. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| March of Dimes- is very well known for working with with WalkAmerica. March of Dimes works to improve the health of mothers so their babies are healthy and are born without birth defects. By the use of funds, March of Dimes has raised money to get technology to help babies before birth in hopes of better health. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| St. Jude's Hospital-The mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is to find cures for children with catastrophic illnesses through research and treatment. The St. Jude's hospital is currently trying to expand and needs funding to do so. This hospital works for childeren all over, and is one of the world's premier centers for treatement of catastrophic accidents in children. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
