Kitty loven, or what's bugging you?

Wow! I didn't notice my logs were sooooo behind, but then again life has been very busy for me, and this landing is taking frigging forever!

Let's see, oh yea, alternate Earth. Well that ended very strangely, but we won, I think. I was still sort of out of it, but the pretty colors were gone leaving a hell of a headache behind. We'd followed some sort of tracking device and ended up at a hotel in sin-city. They were having some sort of cheesy stage show called "The Star Trek Experience", or something like that. Anyway this show was like a sugar-coated view of the Federation where no one gets hurt when the Borg come a calling, and the Feds are always the good guys. Right, like that's ever going to happen.

Anyway, several of the crew got twisted up into the show while we were trying to get away from the MIBs. They did OK for a while playing to a packed house, then the MIBs showed and I thought there would be a lot of shooting and blood, but then the Freedom slammed through the roof of the hotel and with her arrival the tables turned. We got away and ended up leaving with a bunch of people that were in the audience. The captain had no intention of trying to put them back after we were able to back out of the wormhole, and I don't blame her.

There was one surprise, after the mission. The captain pardoned Burndle, saying that the data recovered on the alternate Earth would likely be invaluable to the Federation. When she did that, I saw a flicker of the captain I knew thirty years ago, and it pleased me. I'd feared that with all she had been through that M'Rander was as nuts as everyone thinks, but maybe there is still something of the stalking cat in her that we trusted so many times back when we were playing privateer.

And then there is Lynx. All I can say is WOW!, and that I am sooooo glad I've been reading everything I could lay my hands on as far as their needs during what they tend to call "That Time." If I hadn't, and if I hadn't made use of a certain catalog I was able to lay my hands on as well, well lets just say that I would be ether dead or crippled today. Every fifteen to thirty minutes! Anyway I did get a few nasty scratches out of it, and some memories to drive away the Kzin at night. Perhaps life with her won't be so bad after all, even with Tarra in the mix.

Speaking of Tarra, on the way to this mission I ran into First Officer Lee on his way to an R&R session with her. I tried to warn him and offered what I'd learned, but he didn't want it and seemed totally confused by what I was offering. To tell the truth, I'll be shocked if we don't find a desiccated husk when we get back to the ship, but you never know. He has survived Lera for years from what I understand and that is no mean feat in and of itself. I'm just glad Lynx didn't want to bring Tarra into our evenings. I don't know how that would have gone, but likely badly.

One other odd thing is I had a bug come out of my finger. I got bitten on the bridge by some big ugly black bug that was munching on the insulation under the scanner panel, and then I started feeling odd and a few minutes later this bug popped out of my finger! I seem to be better now, but I have an odd taste in the back of my throat.

Anyway the shuttle just sat down on the Zenith, so it's off to work. I hope this will be the cakewalk that it seems it should be.
