CHRISTMAS
Anna Clarissa D. Landicho

Christmas as defined in the dictionary is the festival celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. It is the time to rejoice for the homecoming of our savior. But is this true to all people? For some of us, it means the time for vacation and shopping for new clothes. For a kid, it is the most awaited time of the year for the arrival of Santa Claus. Dropping gifts and toys inside their chimneys while regular employees, it may mean the time for thirteen-month pays and bonuses, which will be spent, for their Noche Buena. On the part of beggars, orphans and abandoned children, it is the only time of the year when they could eat delicious food that they can only see but rarely taste, with the help of those people with humble hearts. But is Christmas really based on presents and other material things?
One day, I caught myself starring at our Christmas tree. It made me reminisce on my past Christmas filled with laughter and once again, it brought a smile on my face. I recalled all those happy times that I had with my family and my loved ones. There were Christmases that we didn't have an enormous array of food on our table but because we were all together, I felt a felling of contentment that no other thing could ever surpass. From my own point of view, Christmas is more than just exchange gifts and food, it is the time of the year when we take time out to spend with our families and feel the warmth and joy that the occasion brings to us. It is the time when the coming of our savior Jesus Christ saved the human race from their sins.
