This website, as many others started off with an idea of wanting to be creative and to have an outlet to beable to express my own thoughts and personality. While doing this three continous concepts were brought along as well.
PUBLIC/PRIVATE - Our private thoughts and identies are now being publicized more than ever before thanks to technology. Yes now we have more access to what is going on around the world, but to what extent is it going to be taken? With online journals and blogs, people can have access to a person's most internal thoughts, goals, and dreams. On web cams people can watch your every move and the surrounds in which you have placed yourself in.Then with home pages any and all other details that may seem minor can be colaborated into a shrine to oneself. So what was once private, is now public and readily available to all. In Personal Home Pages and the Construction of Identities on the Web, Daniel Chandler states, "the adoption of new media seems to involve a shifting or blurring of the boundaries of public and private".
PRESENTATION - Daniel Chandler also states within the very same article that, "The medium of web pages offers possibilities both for the 'presentation' and shaping of self which are shared neither by text on paper or face-to-face interaction". Through my web page I am able to create a space that expresses who I am through text, pictures, and collaborating ideas. One of my friends is known to tell me, "I had a 'Chassidy' moment the other day". This usually means she personally had a creative idea/cord strike her. So it can be said that my friends tend to view me as a creative person, and I believe this can be shown or 'presented' through this web page as well as other beliefs of my character.
