When I went to see this movie I had high hopes, a movie with Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton with a little eye candy in the form of Keanu Reeves has got to be the formula for a good movie, but to my disappointment it was a failure. It had the makings of a great movie with an excellent script and casting as Nicholson was basically playing himself, but the let down was the basic plot of the story as it was so predictable. It begins with Harry (Nicholson) driving to his girlfriends beach house to find that they are not alone and that her mother, Erica (Keaton) is also there. His reputation for dating 30 years and younger is soon dashed as he falls for Erica and together they go through an experience that changes their lives forever. Not to spoil the ending, if you have not already guessed itthey end up together. This movie really bored me and if it was not for the sheer curiosity to find out how the director brought it all together I would have fallen asleep. Even though it was not my cup of tea it did have a few hilarious moments and it was interesting to see that Keanu Reeves has got more in him than the Matrix and it was refreshing to see him smile because it really does suit him. If you want a traditional romantic flick then this is your movie, but do not expect side splitting comedy. |
