Sometimes the film unlooked for will be the one you enjoy the most. I wasnt planning to go to school of rock until about two days before I saw it yet I enjoyed it immensely. The storyline concerns Duey Finn a rockstar who has just been kicked out of his band and takes up a job as a substitute teacher to avoid been kicked out by his roommate. At first he simply tells the kids to chill out and not work, but after hearing them play in music class he gets an ingenius - in his eyes idea the kids can become his new band and help him back on the road to stardom. What follows is the kids quick development from ordinary pupils into mini rock stars culminating in their concert at battle of the bands. Its a simple feel good movie with no deeper meaning to worry about with quality performances from Jack Black (Duey) and the kids themselves. Good comedy moments are plentiful in both quality and quantity. Its not the sort of film that will change the world or even be all that memorable, it is however very enjoyable and worth seeing. Oh and the soundtracks not bad either. |
