| The Missing is a western, not a genre I have really enjoyed in the past, but this I found interesting and thoughtful, though Im not sure about entertaining. The acting is superb and really very moving at points, the story moving along at quite a calm pace, the action interspersed with bouts of gorgeous scenery. The film follows Maggie (Cate Blanchett) as she tries to rescue her daughter Lily (Rachel Evan-Wood) who has been kidnapped by Indians, to be sold in Mexico. Maggie needs the help of her estranged father (Tommy Lee Jones), who left the family home to live with Indians, to track the people that have stolen her daughter. This isnt groundbreaking stuff, but the way Maggie comes to forgive her father is touching, giving the final scene added potency in its conclusion. Not everyone will like this film, and I wouldnt say that it will change your life, however, I would say it is worth watching if you can think of nothing else to watch, or if it is on T.V. in a few years time. P.S. the snakes are horrible!?! | ||
