Everything that has a beginning has an end a promise given to us by the makers of the Matrix. After five months of waiting the question is, is the ending of the Matrix good? The answer is simpleYes. All the questions (well, most) have been answered and there is no cliffhanger in the end. Certainly there are holes in the narrative but it is not a bad thing at all when a film makes you think and sends you home making your own assumptions.
Zion is faced with war and this leads to many casualties including Neos only love, Trinity (the scene is very moving yet protracted). Hugo Weaving is on top form giving a stellar performance as Agent Smith and the final battle between The One and Smith reaches such a climax that you will sit there in awe. As to whether Neo defeats Smith, I wont say, but, the ending it is nothing short of amazing. Look no further then the words of Smith himselfIt is inevitable.

Sequels to classic films hardly ever live up to the standards of the original, especially when they are ending a trilogy. Im sad to say Matrix Revolutions is no exception.
A brief summary of the plot is that neo must finally defeat the sinister agent Smith who is spreading throughout the matrix like a virus becoming a threat to both it and the real world. Meanwhile Morpheus and the others must try and save Zion- the last human city- from destruction at the hands of the endless hoardes of the machine army.
One of the main reasons for the popularity of the Matrix has always being due to the spectacular special effects. Although some sequences are still amazing, after two films worth of them they just cant generate the same sense of awe and excitement. Also the amount of CG and special effects seems to have been upped to compensate for some real weaknesses in the plot.
Persephone, the wife of the Merovingian was meant to have a significant role in this film and yet she slips in slips out and is never seen again all within a couple of minutes. This combined with other factors such as the almost complete absence of the Architect leads me to believe that at least some of the film has been altered after the publics mixed reaction to Reloaded. I wouldnt be at all surprised to see a directors cut on the DVD when it is released.
To give them their due the quality of acting by Keanu Reeves and co is as good as ever with Hugo Weavings performance as Smith being better than ever (although since he talks a lot more in this film some of his evil presence is lost).
Overall, though I think the poem is a poor third act for the matrix and does not even live up to Reloaded which had a good few failings in its own right. However I would still recommend all major Matrix fans to see it at some point as it does clear up some of those real annoying ramblings made by the architect at the end of the second film.
