Bank robber and car thief Jimmy Hands (Nesbitt) and best mate Rudy are childhood friends who grow up to be totally incompetent criminals plots a daring escape from prison and persuades the governor to stage a show, Nelson: The Musical, in the Old Chapel. Jimmy hopes to use the production as a cover for his escape - the guards will be too busy enjoying the performance to notice a few prisoners slipping out the exit and over the perimeter wall. However, his plan hits a major snag when he falls in love with a Prison Support Officer who foolishly believes he has turned his back on a life of crime.. There is a strong cast featuring some of Britains top acting talent including Ron Cook as thoroughly nasty as evil prison officer Perry, and Bill Nighy who comes across as an older version of Hugh Grant playing posh Roger. The film is something of a gentle comedy, with a few laugh-out-loud moments thrown in and it certainly deserves to be watched.
