| Last year Disney scored big time by transforming their tired old "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride into a truly entertaining movie. The magic isn't quite as evident here with Eddie Murphy's "Haunted Mansion," another ride-based-movie.
Husband-and-wife estate agents Jim and Sara Evers, accompanied by their annoying kids, Michael and Megan, decide to stop at a potential client's run-down mansion on their way to a weekend vacation, And surprise, surprise the manor is haunted and there's a curse to be broken, and the Evers may not be able to escape from Gracey Mansion until they unravel the clues that allow the dead to rest in peace. The films plot raises questions that are never answered. (e.g. How does a Victorian manor that's haunted mostly by British people end up on the outskirts of an American suburb?) But there is some heart, some laughs and some real scares in it.
