I dont really know what to say about this film except that I was well surprised that Zach Braff was so multitalented. The guy wrote, directed and was the star of the film, and it was not a big disappointment. I wont lie though it was one hard film to get into and at first I really did not get the concept, but by the end it was all clear and had a nice message to it. The film is about Andrew Largeman (Braff) who goes back to his childhood home in the Garden State for his mothers funeral. While he is there he begins a journey of inner discovery. His whole life he has been living with a secret that his father has tried helping by stopping him feeling. However that all changes when he meets Sam (Portman) a strange girl full of life and emotion, something that he begins to fall for. In the end you see that it is a romance story between Sam, Largeman and Life, and that life will always have bad and good but you need to feel both. The film is depressing yet happy, with bits of comedy. I would recommend that you go see this even if it is just to widen your cinema taste.
