Finding Nemo is a jewel of a film quite literally. The colours of the Great Barrier Reef are brought to life with amazing clarity and detail, presenting a fantastic background to a wonderful story. The film is classed as childrens film, but is easily enjoyed by people of all ages. It is worth kidnapping a smaller brother/sister/cousin/random child to have an excuse to see it, though it isnt necessary (and there could be a slight problem of being arrested afterwards). The story is a sweet one about a father desperately trying to find his son, and overcoming the fears that he possesses about the outside world, only it relates to fish rather than humans. The father is Marlin, a clown fish (orange with white stripes) who is, quite frankly, terrified of the ocean. The son is Nemo, a little clown fish (still orange with white stripes, just on a smaller scale) who has a weak fin, and whose father is scared rigid of losing, having lost his wife and the rest of his children to a rather hungry bigger fish. On his first day of school, Nemo, who is not scared of the ocean, swims out into it, and gets caught by a diver. Marlin decides to find him. The rescue attempt brings in lots of different characters (I particularly liked the sharks- really quite amusing I thought), humour and fun. A brilliant film highly recommended, though not if you want blood and guts. And we cant forget Dory!!(though she would forget herself, holding, as she does, the flag for a 3-second memory in fish.)
