| Equilibrium takes place in Libria, a futuristic Metropolis where peace reigns after a ruler known as "the Father" has rid the world of all war, hatred, rage and jealousy by requiring all citizens to be dosed with regular injections of Prozium, a drug designed to erases all emotion. John Preston (Christian Bale) is a cleric, part of a police force trained to find any "sense offenders" and anything that might bring about sense offenses. Bale's nemesis is his ambitious new partner (Taye Diggs) who becomes suspicious and investigates whether Preston is failing his duties. Bale skips a dose of his meds, ponders a poem cries over some music and saves a puppy from being shot. All of this leads to his epiphany that life isn't worth living without emotion. The action sequences are based on a form of martial arts that revolves around guns and creating the optimal shooting position. These action scenes are well choreographed and quite stunning to watch. If you liked the Matrix then this film is a must see!! | ||
