| If you have read the reviews that have come out then this film is without a doubt �rubbish�. However I feel that this film has not got the praise it deserves as personally I thought that it was really rather good.
The fact that Orlando Bloom is in the film is not enough to go and see it ladies, even if you are guaranteed some eye candy! It is very much a Brit Flick and requires an audience who love a bit of out and out madness. It is not the best comedy I�ve seen but it had me stitches most of the time. Orlando Bloom plays Jimmy �the Calcium Kid� Connelly who is really a simple lad who is being followed by a camera crew making a documentary of the big fight. He is excellent in this role as you don�t expect him to have a deep character but believe that he is supposed to be this dull, weird young milkman. The comedy does not come directly from Orlando but rather the likes of Herby Bush (Omid Djalili) his manager as well as his best mate Stan (Rafe Spall) and his trainer Paddy (David Kelly).
The Calcium Kid is a good film but the downsides are noticeable as the storyline is weak and the comedy is not top class and did I mention that Billy Piper is in it�However I enjoyed it and I think that it is a great film to see on a rainy bank holiday, like I did.
