What an *amazing* little book! In just 69 pages, this author shares the story of 13 different people, all from different backgrounds, mostly immigrants, living in a very poor section of Cleveland. Many different cultures and languages are represented, and although these characters would not otherwise cross paths or converse with each other, they all come together and find a sense of belonging in a community garden, started by a 9 year old girl, wishing to make her father proud. A wonderful story! I read it in an hour, and am recommending it to everyone!

I used this with a teen book discussion group a few years ago and just loved it! This is a great example of a non-linear book, and is mentioned in our text book, Radical Change: Books for Youth in a Digital Age
