Breakfast
Oat Muffins (left in picture) 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour Layer all ingredients in a 1-quart canning jar. Tap jar gently on the counter to settle each layer before adding the next one. Add additional dried fruits or nuts to fill small gaps, if necessary. Makes 1 jar. Gift Tag Directions: Beat 1/4 cup cooking oil or melted butter, 1 cup milk or vanilla yogurt, and 1 egg in a mixing bow. till combined. Stir in jar contents. Spoon into 12 greased or paper-lined muffin cups. Bake in a 400 degree oven for 20-25 minutes or till done. Cool in muffin cups on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Transfer from muffin cups to wire rack. Serve warm. Makes 12. |

| Blueberry
Tea Scones (center) 2 cups all purpose flour |
Stir
together the flour, sugar, milk powder, baking powder, lemon peel, and
salt in a large mixing bowl. Cut in the shortening using a pastry
cutter or fork till mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in
blueberries. Place in a 1-quart canning jar. Tap gently on
the counter to settle contents. Add additional dried
blueberries to fill small gaps, if necessary. Store at room
temperature for up to 6 weeks or in freezer for 6 months. Makes 1
jar.
Gift Tag Directions: Place jar contents in a large mixing bowl. Add 1 beaten egg and 1/4 cup water; stir just till moistened. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and quickly knead by folding and pressing gently for 12 to 15 strokes or till nearly smooth. Pat to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes with a floured 2 1/2- to 3-inch cutter, dipping cutter into flour between cuts. Place scones 1 inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Brush tops with milk, if desired. Bake in a 400 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes or till golden. Transfer to a wire rack to cool slightly. Serve warm. Makes 10 to 12. |

| Chai
(right in picture above) 1 1/4 cups nonfat dry milk powder |
Place
all ingredients in a 12-ounce jar or bottle. Makes 1 jar.
Gift Tag Directions: to serve, place jar contents in a large saucepan with 8 cups of water. Bring to boiling. Remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 5 minutes. Strain through a wire strainer lined with cheesecloth or coffee filter paper. to serve, add honey to sweeten to taste. Makes 8 (1-cup) servings. |

Viennese
Coffee Balls 2 cups shortbread cookie crumbs or
packaged chocolate chip cookies, crushed (about 3/4 of a 10-ounce
package) Layer ingredients in a 1-quart canning jar or decorative canister. Tap jar gently on the counter to settle each layer before adding the next one. Add additional nuts to fill small gaps in the jar, if necessary. Makes 1 jar. Gift Tag Directions: Place jar contents in a large mixing bowl. Add 4 to 5 tablespoons espresso, strong coffee, or water, using just enough to moisten. Form into 1 1/4-inch balls; roll generously in 1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar. Place on a sheet of waxed paper, and let stand till dry (about 1 hour). Before serving, roll again in powdered sugar, if desired. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week. Makes about 30. |

| Cafe Au Lait 1/2 cup powdered nondairy creamer |
Stir
together nondairy creamer, buttermints, powdered sugar, and milk
powder. Layer with coffee crystals, dividing among two 2-cup mug
jars. Insert peppermint sticks or candies as necessary to fill
jars snugly. Makes 2 jars.
Gift Tag Directions: for each mug, place 1/4 cup of mix in a mug, and add 2/3 cup boiling water. Stir till mix dissolves. Serve with a peppermint stick or candy, if desired. |
