Lindsey Sue Smith
Birthdate: February 16, 1981

Sign: Aquarius

Birthplace: Grand Rapids, MI

Parents: Michael Kent and Lisa Sue

Eyes: Hazel

Hair: Light brown and past my shouders

Height: 5' 8"

Occupation: Student.  I'm done with my second year at Michigan Tech, and I plan to graduate in four years with a major in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Economics.  That is, if I'm crazy enough to stick with Chem Eng.  I'm surviving for now though, and loving college life.  I live almost exactly 500 miles away from my parents, which can be good and bad.  The only time it's bad though is when I have to drive all the way home.  At school I am a front desk receptionist, which means I make copies and sort mail and fun stuff like that.  I really enjoy my job, epecially interacting with the people, and the money is nice too.

Interests: I try to run every weekday morning, and I'm beginning to enjoy it.  Hopefully by this summer I'll be able to just go out and run a few miles.  In the winter, I also like to ice skate and cross country ski.  I love just soaking it all in out on the trails.  Soon I'm going to be really good on my new hockey skates too.  If you haven't, check out all the pics on my webpage...I love photography.  I want to be able to do more of it, but for now I enjoy snapping pictures of cool things I see, and documenting every trip I make.

Family: Parents, one brother, dog.  I love my family, they're the best.  My parents are an excellent example of the way marriage should work, and they love us as much as each other.  I know I can always come home and be welcome here, which means a lot.  My brother, Paul, is 17 now, will be a senior in High School next fall.  Don't tell him I said so, but he's smarter than I am.  That kid's going places, he could do whatever he wants to.  He grew up into a pretty cool guy too, I even like hanging out with him occasionally when I come home.  Chelsea, the dog, is always the happiest to see me when I come home.  It's great to be loved like that.  The rest of my family is just about as cool too.  My mom's only brother, his wife and my cousins live in Ohio, so only get to see them about twice a year, but they're cool.  My dad's only sister Beth lives in GR with my uncle Harry, and they're pretty fun.  They even email me.  Dad's folks live just a mile away, so we see them a lot.  Mom's mom and stepdad live in Florida most of the year, but we get to see them in the summer.

Significant Other:  Patrick Martyka.  Our first date was Valentine's Day, then he took me out for my birthday two days later, and he totally swept me off my feet; we've been together ever since.  I don't think I could ask for a much better boyfriend, he's awesome.  I feel like I can totally be myself around him, and he likes all of me.  He's super supportive, always there for me.  He graduated from Tech May 2001, and is working for GM Powertrain in Ypsilanti, MI.  Living 500 miles apart from each other really sucks, but we love each other and it's working out well.

Friends:
There are a whole lot of people who fit into this category.

Amy and I have been friends since our sophomore year of High School, and best friends for a couple years now.  Since she's at Michigan State, I don't get to see her as much as I would like.  When I come home it's just like no time has passed at all though.  There aren't many secrets between us, and I know she'll always be there for me.

Laura and I met just last year at MTU, but have become the best of friends since then, especially this last semester.  Believe it or not, we met at a party, and discovered we lived just down the hall from each other.  Last year she lived right across the hall, which was great.  We were with each other constantly, which probably bothered our roommates a bit, but oh well.  Now that she's gone from Tech for good; to Mexico, now Central, I don't know what I'm going to do.  AIM just isn't the same.

Troy was in my first math class at Tech, Calc 2 with Kolkka, the civil war nut.  I couldn't stand him the first few times we met, but he grew on me, and now we're really good friends.  I don't know what I'd do in Chem Eng without him.  We always compare notes and give advice about our dating adventures.  He even let me dye his hair last year.  As crazy as he is, I love the guy, and school is definately a much better place with him there.

Rob is the best kind of guy friend a girl could have.  We met in beginning bowling last year, and have gotten to be close friends over the past year.  He was the one who introduced me to my church, which I love.  We're both too busy to see each other a lot, but I know he still loves me.  Having him gone on co-op this sping is sad, but maybe now he'll have more time to write me.

Alex is my rock, he always looks out for me and tries to keep me out of trouble.  We first met when Rob sent me down to his room to ask for a ride to church.  I'm really going to miss having him around this semester while he's on co-op.  At least he'll be in Holland living with Rob, so I can see them both all summer.

Will I met when he lived with Alex.  I don't know how it happened, but we've become good friends.  He's a great listener, and is always up for going out for a walk with me when I need it.  I'm glad Will is still going to be there, so I'll have someone to hang out with and dump on.

Renee is one of my co-workers, she's awesome to talk to, and we hang out occasionally. Jason is a really sweet guy, and even a pretty good M.A. (as long as he continues to not give me tickets).  My freshman skating buddy, Joel, is a great guy, and gives really good massages.  Pete is another really cool guy I work with.

More to come....
