What an interesting program!!  I hope you enjoyed hearing Allen Day share his quilting experience and see his excellent craftsmanship.  You can tell he’s into quilting for life!

Our program for September will be Treva Mahan from Paris.  Treva is a former home economics teacher/counselor – now retired and a world traveler.  She will be sharing the strip piecing method of quilting.  If you happen to have a strip pieced quilt, please bring it to share.

Don’t forget our “FREE TO MEMBERS” workshop with Sally Ashbacker on Saturday, October 18.  We will begin at 9:00 a.m. and go until about 4-5 p.m.  Lunch is provided, so I will need an RSVP from you at our meeting for planning purposes.  I’ll also have the handout for you to begin your prep work.  Place will be the Senior Citizens’ Activity Center.  We’re gonna have soooooo much fun – even a doorprize or two!

Special Events….Deanna Hasten

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU, to all of you wonderful members, who contributed so generously, with both your time and terrific Boutique Items.  I just know the Boutique is going to be a fantastic success, right along with the auction.  See you Thursday, September the 18th, and let the fun begin.

For those of you who signed up for the Friendship Block Swap, I need your blocks before the September Meeting, so that I can pass out a complete set to all who signed up.

I would also like to send a Great Big Welcome to our two new members, who just happen to be sisters. Carol Lamprecht and Lois Grossman are both from Quitman, and they both are proud new owners of Long Arm Quilting Machines.

Hostess Chairman…Lequida Jennings

Thanks so much to the August hostesses, Wanda Beaty, Pat Powell, Jeraldine Wages and Donna Rankin.  Even though I was out of town and missed the guild meeting, I keep hearing raves about the spread.  You did it again, Ladies.  I never knew there were chefs in quilter’s clothes!

Letter received from new member…..

“Dear Billie Ruth and group,

You will never know the joy that has been mine since I found the ad in the paper stating the meeting time and location of the quilting group.  Advanced age has increased my health problems thus eliminating most of my former activities; yet, the interest in hand work has not been completely erased.  Hopefully, it will be God’s will that I can continue to drive and use my hands and eyes to keep me “going”.  I do appreciate the fellowship shared each month, and it is so encouraging to see the enthusiasm shown by all the members.  Such isn’t always true.  Usually three or four enthusiastic members carry the load and the others “enjoy the ride”.

Even though I can not offer my service in many situations, please feel assured that I will gladly serve for short periods of time in a sitting type assignment.  I look healthy but, due to both hip replacements and “Old Man Arthur” (arthritis) taking their share of my former health, I am limited to my activities.

If you need additional quilts, I can secure another.  Hopefully, the quilt show will be a tremendous success!

Sincerely,

Flo Cain
