August 2002
From the President:
Hello Ladies,
Time is flying, but talented Deanna and all her helpers have everything under
control for the Fall Festival quilt show. But, I'll reiterate her request that
everybody PLEASE remember to bring back your sheets to the next guild meeting
with everything listed that you will be providing for the show. Having all the
information at the guild meeting is so crucial because there is no other guild
meeting before the Fall Festival.
We're nearing the end of our panels for the library so don't forget your upcoming
blocks: FALL (fall colors, leaves, fall scenes on preprinted blocks, etc.) and
ORANGE (you can stay with the color theme or do Halloween scenes). The four
completed panels are all hanging in the library and look great. Pink and Purple
will be completed and on show at our next guild meeting.
Officer nominations will becoming up so soon. Have you served in an office yet?
We need you. We have so much talent in this group and everybody has something
to offer. Let's pass the fun (and work) around.
I want to thank Sylvia Martin for having our Donation Quilt on display and selling
tickets at the Factory Outlet during the Saturday (no tax)sale. Another thanks
to Vada Gooding for taking the quilt to her family reunion and selling tickets.
Mary Massey is picking up the quilt any minute now, to take to the Plano Guild
and at the end of the month Pat Pillard and her daughter take it. It's this
kind of marvelous responsibility that's making our sales such a success. If
any of you have a place, an event or any kind of occasion that you can take
the quilt to, just let me know.
Remember, if you have anything for Show & Tell, display it about the room
when you come in so that we can all be enjoying them even prior to your telling
us about them.
Looking forward to seeing you and don't forget to call up a friend who missed
our last meeting. Remember, YOU are the Welcome committee.
Billie Ruth Standbridge, President
From Vice President:
The Quilters are privileged to have Mr. W.D. Wilbanks rom the Hobbs Fiber Co.
to be the speaker for the August 26 meeting. He will bring door prizes of batting
and other items for you to see. He will tell you the different kinds of batting
and examples of how to use them. He is a very interesting speaker. Hope to see
you there.

Community Service:
The Guild received 2 thank you letters from Family Haven and a newsletter from
Child Advocacy with acknowledgement for donations given in July. We also have
made another donation to Family Haven. The 12 inch blocks for this month are
2 blocks of fall colors and 2 of Halloween (or orange & black) for the library.
Remember to allow an inch border on the pattern so when finished to 11 inches
none of the pattern will be missing.

Special Events:
The August 26th guild meeting will be the last one before the Quilt Show September
20-21. Please turn in the Volunteer information sheets that were passed out
at the July meeting. This information is VERY IMPORTANT as we make our final
plans and schedules. So far, FIFTEEN companies have generously sent door prize
packages to us! It is so exciting to see what comes in, and we anticipate lots
of fun as the door prizes are given out. Our goal is to have a great quilt show
as we promote the art of quilting in our community. Thanks to all of you for
your help!
