April 2002
From the President:
Dear Ladies,
I just want to say how fortunate our guild is to have the wonderful new members and guests who are joining us. Whether you choose to join in with our many activities or feel you need to limit your participation to enjoying the fellowship, food and the learning experiences of our programs, we value your membership and look forward to seeing you each month.
Some of our members who have visited the Plano Guild havemade a suggestion that we try doing the beginning of our meeting the way they do, and it sounds like a winner. After you have signed in and the hostesses have the food ready, you are free to go ahead and get your refreshments. This will save all the time we spend standing in line and we will be more likely to start our program on time. For those of you that are new, let me acquaint you with our check-in procedure. Sign in on the member sheet or the visitors sheet at the 1st table with Elaine Sprague, Membership Chairperson, then progress to Wanda Beaty, Treasurer, and turn in any raffle tickets/money or pick up your packets with tickets, if you have not already done so. Next, turn in to Shirley Burney, our Community Chairperson, your 2 blocks if you are contributing to the Library panels we’re making. Last will be Colleen Hines who will have an array of our many quilting books out on display and available for you to check out. Since Colleen wears more than one hat, if you are new and did not arrive with a member, or you are a visitor, please see Colleen and later in the program she will introduce you to the group. Kitty will be at the April meeting to accept the first finished panel for the Sulphur Springs Public Library
See you at Guild April 22…..Billie Ruth Standbridge
From Vice President:
Bettie Hammock, who has won several ribbons on her Red Work, will present the program “Fundamentals of Hands on Red Work” for our April 22nd meeting. She has asked the Guild members to bring the following: ahoop (if you use one to embroidrey), a needle to embroidery with and a pair of scissors. Hope to see you there for a very special Lady who will be showing you how to do this and how it all got started.
