March 2008
Well, we've moved in. Had some "Miscommunication" with the Tele company, resulting in my phone and DSL being turned off before it was supposed to. Then of course getting it turned on
when it was supposed to. We don't have DSL capability out here, but had dial-up, for a little while. That was turned off without notice.
I couldn't keep this up to date. They also suspended this "FREE" account. Alas, they restored it and I am updating.
We have wireless internet now and it's faster than DSL we had in town.
Now it's a matter of finding time for everything. Lawn, Garden, House, Work etc.
We've been trying to get some grass to grow, in between the snow storms and flooding. Well, we only got a couple of flakes
of snow, no flooding, just heavy rain that washed some of the dirt and seed away, now we have ruts. But there are some sprouts of grass popping up. We're going to have to bring in more topsoil.
June 2008
Well finally got around to taking a couple more pictures. Since the last update in March, we've planted bermuda seed and it's coming in ... slowly, but it's growing. It must be, I have to cut it each week!
We had a new addition to the family, for about 3 weeks. Memorial day (May 26th) a dog wandered into the garage as we were cleaning up the mower. Gramma Ginny named her Suzie.
She was well mannered, and loved attention. She even did all of her "business" along the fence line. She didn't like the leash and wouldn't get into the vehicles, but we were working on it. We left the gate open for the first 4 or 5 days
and she never left. Then we kept the gate closed just to keep her out of the road. I took pictures to the shelter and local vet, but didn't get any calls. Anyway, Jun 18th, she disappeared.
I think someone took her from the yard, since we didn't let her into the house. I wanted to get her to the Vet to be checked out first, but couldn't get her into the truck. I don't think she climbed
the fence or opened the gate and closed it again and there were no holes under the fence. So, whether she was taken by the owner or theft for reward we don't know. You would have thought
if it were the owners, and they saw her from the road, they would have stopped by to inquire. We just hope she's ok.
Nov 2008
Well, we just finished up NASCAR weekend in Fort Worth. That's always fun, busy but fun. We didn't renew our season tickets for next year. We did that for the last 12 years. We thought
we might travel to other races throughout the country, or just take a regular vacation.
I need to update the pictures, the grass really came in nice during the last part of the summer.
Cooler temps lately and the grass is starting to go dormant. Probably will have to mow one more time this year.
We will be starting a modified work week at the Post Office starting 22 Nov. 10 hour work days 4 days a week. My schedule will be 9:30am to 8pm with Wed-Thur-Fri off. We'll see how that goes.
Best wishes to all
