John Wood, C/58 and B/75, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2006 of liver cancer. He was to have been married to his fiance, Donna. John was a Disabled American Veteran, the result of injuries suffered in Viet Nam. He had also suffered from liver problems since his return, possibly attributed to Agent Orange. His liver cancer was detected only a few months ago, and it had spread widely during the past few weeks. John will be buried at the military cemetery at Ft. Sam Houston. John was truly a character, as anyone who had visited his former Website "Ranger Wood's Hooch" would know.  He maintained commo with several of us, and his humor will be missed. Also, those of us who wear the rings he made from a pattern of the wings he wore in Viet Nan are fortunate to always have his memory nearby.
Col. Edward V. Maltese, 1920 - 2006
RIP LRRPS, AIRBORNE
It is the veteran, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the veteran, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the veteran, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the veteran, not the campus organizer, who gives us the right to assemble.
It is the veteran, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the veteran, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.
It is the veteran who salutes the flag.
It is the veteran who serves under the flag.

ETERNAL REST GRANT THEN O LORD,
AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON THEM.
George Tollinger, passed away in April, 2006 of lung cancer (Agent Orange).
