Hi Dee, I knew your father back in 1961, when I first joined the LRRP Co Airborne. I was 21, and he was the MAN IN CHARGE. IN COMMAND. And he was a fine man. In every way I knew then and that I know now, he was an excellent role model. He was one of the very few men I have ever met that I consider to be such a role model. For me, it was an honor and a privilege to have served under your father. I know you suffer from the loss of your father. It is no consolation, but there are many of us who served with and under your father's command that share your loss.  Sincerely, James M. Handlin,; Major, USAR, Retired
Dear Major Handlin: Thank you for your comforting words. I also feel privileged and honored that I had a caring, honest Father that would let no harm come to his family. He took such good care of us all. If Dad could have had it his way, we all would be living at his house to this day!! I miss and love him very much. I would have been about 6 years old when you met my father. I am the youngest daughter. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. I will share them with the rest of the family as well. Thank you, Deidre Lynne
Our Heavenly Father, thou hast ever been our refuge and strength. Life is given by thee and return unto thee. We pray now that thy will be done in the journey of our beloved CommanderColonel Maltese. Bless his family and Bless him in his journey through life everlasting. Grant assurance and peace unto his family and rest unto our departed leader and friend, through Jesus christ our Lord, Amen.
