Letter from Cindy Steinhoff Drake, Assistant Librarian, Nebraska State Historical Society

January 26, 1981

Dear Mr. Pankake:

In answer to your letter, the post office of Ovitt was named for your grandmother [sic], Mrs. Laura R. Ovitt. She was the first postmistress when the post office was established January 23, 1911. It was discontinued in 1943. I was unable to locate any further information.

Sincerely,

Cindy Steinhoff Drake
Assistant Librarian

[Laura was my great great grandmother-lrp]
