Teaching Philosophy |
The purpose of an education is to become aware as well as explore different philosophies of education. As one becomes educated you are able to transmit this knowledge, values and foundations to others. I believe that education is an intricate part of one's being. In my opinion it is one of the most important elements of one's life. Within our families it radiates commitment, and perseverance. Within our communities we are able to share and help others that may need that extra push to go back and fulfill a lost dream. As educators we can try to make a difference in our classroom and the school community, we have the tools to empower student who need to be taught at a different pace. |

My vision for teaching is based on a core curriculum that includes Multicultural Education, Character Education, a Motivational Framework and an environment that is open for change. I know change can't come over night, but we are on the right track by having classes that open our eyes to different formats of education. |

With my own education, the class that inspired me the most was, Educational Foundations and I wish I had taken this course before I started teaching. True to its name it does give you the foundations to think, explore and apply techniques to your classroom. |

As far as instruction, I believe that I match the Progressive Philosophy, and I would like to see more student-centered approaches in the classroom. A contemporary classroom matches this type of instruction; it is student centered with cooperatively learning and has a partial grading assessment process incorporated in its core curriculum. Partial grading is time consuming and tedious to many educators, but I feel that it is well worth the time for it would make a world of difference not only in the student?s grades but to their self-esteem. |

In closing I would like to comment, that as a new teacher I hope one day to incorporate my vision into my classroom and school environment without any restriction. I firmly believe that it would benefit all students to go out and be successful in whatever they pursue. |
