| Bios: Dianne Saltzman Dianne is seeking a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. Current plans are to transfer to Avila, but she may be enticed to some other school that doesn't require her to endure Math 180. At 43 years of age with three of seven children still at home, she's got enough to do. Dianne shares the children with her husband, Russell, pastor of Ruskin Heights Lutheran Church. She teaches preschool three mornings a week which is where she caught the bug to become a teacher. When she has nothing else to do (the first day after finals comes to mind) she is most likely to pick up a novel and read for pleasure. Dianne is in her third semester at Longview. She enjoys meeting fellow students and likes the size of the campus most. Additionally, she values the commitment and guidance of several of her instructors. Tracy Gray: I will be graduating from Longview in the Spring and then transferring to UMKC School of Nursing the following fall. I'm married and have two sons, ages 9 and 2. Amy Stewart: I have an identical twin sister, Jamie, who is attending Longview with me and is also a new member of Phi Theta Kappa. I also have a younger brother who is 10 and an older sister who is 24. I'm 19 years old and I'm planning on becoming a pharmacist. I hope to transfer to UMKC after I graduate which will probably be in the spring semester of 2005. I currently work at Osco Drug as a certified pharmacy technician (CphT) and I enjoy the work. I live here in Lees Summit and I just graduated from LSHS this last May. Annie Wills: Hi! My name is Annie Wills. I've been going to Longivew since fall 2002 and currently have 36 credit hours. I am seventeen years old and will be eighteen in about four weeks. I plan on receiving my Associates in Arts from Longview in the fall of 2005, after which I will go down to Disney World for the college internship program just to give me a little break from school and a chance to see what it's like to live away from home. After that, I would love to transfer to Belmont University in Nashville, TN to major in Music Management and Merchandising and minor in Music Theory and Composition. Jamie Stewart: I graduated from Lee's Summit High School in May 2003. I actively participated in AFJROTC throughout high school on the honor guard. Traveling is my favorite pastime. My family and I recently went to the Grand Canyon-what a great road trip! I work part time at AT&T as an Account Representative, and can't complain because the pay and benefits are good. I plan to attend UMKC hopefully in the near future but currently I'm undecided in my major. Katherine L. Oskison: Kathy Oskison CPS/CAP (Certified Administrative Professional) 52 years old (yes, I'm that "older student" that sits close to the chalkboard so I can see!!) I have two sons, ages 30 and 24, and two grandsons, ages 5 and 7, and a 4X4 cat named Sweetie. I have an AAS degree and a paralegal certificate from Coffeyville Community College. I am enrolled in the BPS program at Rockhurst University working on my Organizational Communication degree. I am also a student at Longview taking courses I need that did not transfer to the Rockhurst program from Coffeyville. I love the campus at Longview. The people there, the students and the faculty, are the VERY BEST!! I work at Hallmark, HR, Corporate Services as an administrative assistant to the Director of Corporate Services. The most fun part of my job is building Intranet websites for all the Corporate Services departments. I love to read and to write when I have the time, and am active in many volunteer efforts through Hallmark. Chris Benedict : I've been attending Longview off and on for the last 6 years and it has been a good experience to move forward with my education. If all goes well, I should have enough credits by the end of Fall 2003 to get my Associate in Arts degree. I plan on transferring to a four-year school somewhere, but am still struggling to narrow my interests down to a definite major. I am 33, currently single, and live in Blue Springs. Besides going to school full-time, I also work part-time for a natural supplement wholesaler. In my spare time I love travel, hanging out with friends, creative writing, reading, film, vinyl-record and CD collecting, and taking nice long walks with my dog. I am also a volunteer for Youthfriends, as well as a member of the Freedom From Religion Foundation. |
