| The Modeen Award | ||||||||||||||
| The Modeen Award is named after Nicole Modeen without whom the hockey program at Long Reach would not exist. As a sophomore, Nicole attended an area hockey game and fell in love with the sport immediately. Soon afterwards, she set out to form a team for her school. Nicole took the initiative to contact the Commissioner of the Maryland Scholastic Hockey League to identify all of the tasks require to gain entrance into Maryland's best high school hockey league. With some assistance from one or two faculty members and parents, she organized meetings, recruited interested students, recruited a coach, and completed every document required from USA Hockey Simply put, because of her tireless efforts, the Long Reach Ice Hockey team was born. The Award is given annually to the one player who best exemplifies leadership, dedication, and unselfish play. |
