This is purely conceptual art work which I thought of after receiving an email concerning a fund raising auction from Democrats Abroad in Toulouse, France. This is all that exists of it and this is the work.

The work consists of a piñata in the form of a bush head. For those who don't know what a piñata is, a piñata is a traditional latin-american birthday prop for kids.

It usually has the form of something kiddy like an animal or star and is the highlight of any kid's birthday party. It is hollow and filled with candies, cookies, small toys and the like, and is made of breakable materials such as papier-mâché (see my daughter's).

It is attached to a rope and hung high on a tree branch during the party. When the time comes, all of the kids are lined up by age. The one at the front of the line is then blind folded and given a stick with which he/she will swing at the pinata, with the aim of breaking it and letting all of the goodies fall to the ground, at which point, all of the kids try to get as many goodies as possible.

To add excitement, an adult grabs the free end of the rope and moves the piñata back and forth and up and down. This makes it harder for the kids, specially the older ones, to break up the piñata. A good piñata takes a good beating but yields at the end to let its goodies out. A bad one either breaks up right away, which does not let each kid take a shot at it, or does not break at all and ends up being broken by a hammer.

As a fund raiser, the Bush Piñata could be auctioned off whole or, "baseball bat swings" could be sold off for say, 5 dollars each. The Bush Piñata is different from other piñatas in that it is wicked and deceptive...it is empty....come on, wouldn't you expect this? The bidders off-course would not know this. They would buy the piñata with the intention of breaking it up and finding out what's inside. They wouldn't be dissappointed however by the fact that's empty for they should have known better. They would only laugh at the idea of having been had like the rest of the American population....
