MISTAKES COST LRBC LAST GAME OF SEASON
LRBC's breakthrough season ended in disappointing fashion as two defensive errors cost them the points against a laid-back St John's outfit. But despite the scoreline, season's best performances from striker Rosty Belibov and midfielders Luke Walsh and David Turner meant LRBC did gain something from the performance.
LRBC started the game brightly but were undone midway through the first half when defender Duncan Brownnutt could only head back towards his own goal and skipper Carey Jones was unable to intercept. The St John's striker had the time and composure to drill past LRBC 'keeper Anthony Thorpe.
A half-time re-shuffle saw LRBC top scorer Ed Jackson pushed forward into his more familiar striking role having spent the first half pulling the strings in midfield. And the combination of Jackson and fellow striker Rosty Belibov caused problems for St John's, who's keeper twice saved Belibov's goalbound efforts. The Moldovan's quick feet and ability to take-on defender after defender earning him LRBC's man of the match award.
However, hopes of LRBC getting anything out of the game evaporated when Carey Jones failed to track his man at a St John's corner, leading left-back Ashley Trueman to use his hand to clear the resulting header. The inevitable sending off and penalty killed off LRBC's fightback, with the spot kick calmly tucked away.
