FRIENDLY MATCH
LRBC 7-0 FOUR FC (South Parade)

LRBC START PRE-SEASON IN STYLE

After a month off LRBC got their new-season underway with a bang demolishing Four FC and avenging last season's 1-0 friendly defeat against the same team. Man of the match was undoubtedly debutant right-back Kyle Harrington who in addition to strolling through his defensive duties at right back scored two thunderous headers.

Although it is difficult for LRBC to read too much into the scoreline, they will be pleased at much of the passing and movement shown during the game as they seek an alternative to their usual direct counter-attacking style of play. For the first hour LRBC looked to build up from the back and retain possession for longer spells, before the game lost shape as players selfish instincts took over and showing their individual skills and scoring goals became the priority.

Midfielder Luke Walsh got the scoring underway with a well controlled strike on the turn from the edge of the box, before Harrington scored his firstwhen he headed home a David Turner corner. Strike duo Ed Jackson and Jonathan Parkinson also found the net before being withdrawn at half time, and Joe Wilson attoned for an earlier penalty miss to make the score 5-0 at half time.

LRBC will field a 'B' team this season, and the second half gave manager Gareth Carey Jones the chance to bring on a number of younger players who will look to use the 'B' team to force their way into the starting line-up. The movement, pace and passing during the first 15 minutes of the second half gave a glimpse of the kind of football the 'B' team will look to play this season but it took another Turner corner and Harrington header midway through the half to add to LRBC's lead. Anthony Thorpe enjoying the opportunity to show he's more than just a 'keeper then completed the scoring finishing calmly after a simple exchange of passes on the halfway line.
