The final term paper is one of the major assignments for this course. Participants are required to write a ten page (typewritten, double spaced) paper. Guidelines and criteria in preparing the term paper are as follows:
Introduction
* Statement of thesis - what is your topic or statement of problem / issue
* Cohesiveness - clear theme that connects the parts
* Clarity and quality of organization of sections
Content and Structure
* Quality of arguments - depth and originality of thought, relevance of ideas to the topic or issue
* Logical organization - orderly development and arrangement of points and ideas
* Quality of supporting research evidence - validity of information
* Use and interpretation of social, political and economic factors
* Effective coverage of information
* Demonstration of readings - core and additional readings
* Criticism - analysis and critical review of arguments in favor or against
Conclusions and Recommendations
* Clear, thoughtful and logically drawn conclusions
* Implications and future trends if applicable
* Meaningful suggestions and recommendations to solve the problem
* Agenda for future research if applicable
References
* Appropriate use of sources and citations
* Correct method of integration of quotations
* Appropriate method of bibliography, footnotes, and end notes
