West Yellowstone Area
Earthquake Lake was created by a 1959 earthquake. The loss of life was heavy for a rural area. Gallitin National Forest near West Yellowstone Montana.
This campsite was level before the earthquake. Now there is about a 20 foot lift between the place where the firepit and the tent site were located. This campground is no longer used. Earthquake Lake. Notice the slide that created the lake.

Memorial Boulder. It was moved from the slide area and on up this side. There is a plaque with the names of those who lost their lives.
