2005 Black Hills Area
We became South Dakota "residents" in June of 2005. We love the Black Hills area, including the Badlands and neighboring sections of Wyoming, such as Devils Tower.

The best place to base for a full time RVer may be Rush No More campground in Sturgis. The fees are reasonable, and the park and owners are very plesant.
All of Mt. Rushmore could fit in Crazy Horse's forehead. Stop at the Wildlife Center to see where the buffalo herds are located that day.
Custer State Park. The wildlife loop and gravel roads from it are a great place to see wildlife. This buffalo and calf were part of a large herd hear one of the gravel roads.
Crazy Horse monument is coming along. Note the preparations on the horse's head. It is the next to be carved. The face is great.
The next picture was from below.
This view was near the top of Little Devils Tower in Custer State Park.
Custer State Park. This narrow canyon was on the Little Devils Tower trail. The trail was extremely steep -- 65 degress for quite a while -- even though it was only 3 miles round trip.
Taken from Mickelson Trail.
I could not pass up this picture of Longhorn cattle in front of Devils Tower WY.
This is looking up at Little Devils Tower in Custer State Park. All 4 of us climbed it from another angle.
Mount Rushmore from Iron Mtn Road. Three tunnels each frame Mt. Rushmore. THis was from an overlook and is a very diffent angle and great distance.
Phyllis took this picture of Devils Tower at the same time I took the other one. The picture has not been retouched. Is that a spaceship destined for a close encounter? We do not know what it is.
