When illness forced the last-minute cancellation of Burt Bacharach's January shows with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra (KSO), legendary singer-songwriter Neil Sedaka came to the rescue. He turned in a memorable display of his vintage hits and classically trained piano playing. His second show was cancelled when he was hospitalized with a heart ailment. Fortunately, he has recovered. |

Anne Murray was the KSO guest in February, performing both shows in the smooth style for which she is famous. The photo below was taken at a book and CD signing at Borders Books the afternoon before her final concert. WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD is a two-disc set of inspirational songs and has received heavy late-night television promotion. |

In May the season ended with the EAR-RESISTIBLE sounds of veteran Motown legends the Temptations. Present were: Otis Williams, an original member, Ron Tyson, a member for the last 20 years, and new members Barrington Henderson and Terry Weeks. Absent for health reasons was Harry McGilberry, bass singer. The orchestra was chastised in print for not recreating the string introduction to "Papa was a Rolling Stone." |
