Ozomatli serves a delectable blend of brass, Latin, hip-hop, jazz, folk singing and rap, making them a welcome form of entertainment either as sole performer or opening act. Shown at top left is their first album (self-titled) for Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss' Almo Sounds label. Below left is their second set, EMBRACE THE CHAOS, released on Almo/Interscope. The touring & recording lineup ranges from 7 to 10. In November 2002 there were 8 band members who signed my disc sleeves following their set opening for the improvisational jazz trio of Medeski, Martin and Wood. Ozo has also toured with Carlos Santana and were featured on one track of his 2002 album, SHAMAN, along with Michelle Branch and other notables. |
