Dogs, like children, are the same the world over...

Look at this! Isn't this precious? How much cuter can you get?! Two adorable puppies, lying side by side on the grass, so sweet, so docile. So obedient. Nice picture, right? Just tugs at the heartstrings. Makes you want a puppy of your own. If only folks would realize that shots like this don't reflect reality!
Here's what the same two little devils looked like only moments after the above pic was taken! --------------->

A big THANKS to my coworker Rob Kinney for those adorable pix of siblings Jasmine and Magnolia!!!
So many people harbor the illusion that when they become pet owners, they will actually be the boss! That's FUNNY! YOU are not the boss in your house ... that little puppy is! The trick is to make Fifi or Fido WANT to obey you. That's the only thing you need to master. Once you've perfected that, you've got it licked! (No pun intended, of course.)
Christmas 2000. Time to get some good photos of me and the pooches. The only problem is, the pooches had other ideas. You can't tell from these pix, but I have a death grip on both Missy and Honey. Now, I'm not holding the dogs so tightly because I love them. I'm doing so because it's the only way to keep them still! Even so, they were looking everywhere but towards the camera.
Coworker Joe Harmer's chocolate lab puppy, Nole, preparing to take a bite out of crime. Or, at least, Joe's sneaker! THANKS, Joe, for the cool pic!
Sit! Er ... stay! Um... lie down! (please?) Entertainer Ron Dante finds out firsthand that it's no simple task trying to get four Dalmatians to sit still! It was difficult enough to get them all in the same place at the same time. Dals are notoriously active dogs. Ron was trying to get a group shot for his latest page, Dante's Dalmatians (see below for the link to this super web site). He finally settled on individual shots of the doggies. Wise decision, Ron!
(Take it from me. The only way you're going to get the perfect shot of a puppy of any breed or a Dalmatian of any age is when it's doing this!) ------------->
July, 2001. Another attempt to get good shots of the dogs, but it didn't work any better. This time I had to chase them all over the house to get them both to stay within camera range, and again they're looking everywhere except where they're supposed to. I've pretty much given up getting any good poses out of them, but at least, with them not facing the lens, we don't get that weird yellow-eye effect! Click here to see my Pets photo album!
Click on the pic of Ron and friend to get to Ron's newest page, Dante's Dalmatians! This is a nonprofit organization dedicted to finding homes for Dals at no cost for adoption; you only pay for transportation! Even if you don't necessarily have your heart set on a Dal, Ron's site is chock-full of important information that every pet owner and prospective pet owner should know.
My heartfelt thanks (and a box of milk bones) to Ron Dante for that priceless pic!
