Ever wonder what really goes on behind the scenes of LP's videos?
Well you've come to the right place!
Crawling
Originally for this video, Phoenix was supposed to play the role of the
girl who is being abused in the video (as apparent by the LP DVD in the
Making of Crawling section). He felt that he did not need to play his
bass for the video because Mike and Brad were already playing, so why
add more musicians to the scene?...especially when you have the best
actor in the world right on set already! The group felt that the public
would laugh at them for having a 25 year old man, crawling around in their
video being abused by another man (or well, in his case, another woman).
It wasn't until that Friday when they were filming Phoenix's "crawling
on the floor scenes" that he sprained his wrist, and got knocked unconscious
by a virtual crystal. On the following Sunday, they called in Katelyn, who
would play the role of the girl.
Papercut
The filming of Papercut was a pure disaster--all due to the little
fellow who makes his debute appearance running across the LP set.
Not only did 'it' break Rob's drumset because of jelousy (yes, that
is why Rob had to sit on his butt looking around instead of playing like the rest of
the guys), but 'it' also released real dragonflies/fireflies (whatever
they were) on the set after finding out that Chester was afraid of them.
In addition, 'it' would constantly run through the videoshoot, wasting
valuable tape and footage. The guys didn't want to have to retake any of the shots,
so editors decided to cut out the places where 'it' interfered, and
create a blobby thingymabobber which supposedly released the dragonflies/fireflies.
They had finished the editing of the video, and had taken out all the parts with 'it'
in the shots. Unfortunately, 'it' got ahold of the edited version of the video
on the computer, and added 'its' appearance (where we see him running quickly
across the set). No one had known what 'it' had done until they saw the premire of
the video on television.
In the End
Gladly enough, nothing too tragic went on this videoset, as apparent by
the "Making of In the End" section on the DVD. However, one flaw which was
cut from the video and from the making of the video, was when Mike jokingly
pushed Chester off the edge of the platform thingy, causing him to crash into
the cameras and such. Because no one wanted to promote to the youngsters that it
is funny and alright to push someone off of a ledge, this was kept a secret on
the set...well, that is, until now.
Points of Authority
This video could not have been corrupted in anyway thankfully.
One Step Closer
Little information is known about the making of this video, seeing how it
was created in an abondoned subway. Once information surfaces on the making of
this video, it shall be posted.
