This review is embarassing to say the least. Although I was a huge
Bow Wow fan, my respect for him as the "cute little boy doing his rapping
thing" has been deteriorating.
I think things went down hill once he hit puberty and Doggy Bag came out. I
should've learned from that CD that things were not looking too well for
Bow anymore. Maybe the fact that he didn't work with Jermaine Dupri
has a lot to do with this CD simply not being that good, or it
could just be another one of those "people grow up and change" things.
The first two songs of the CD are really good--with the exception that
he says "I won't lie. I love B-O-O-T-Y"...that's nice Bow. We all care about
that. Track 3, When I Turn 18 (or something like that...I could care less
what it's called actually), is boring and seems a little too optomistic and
boastful. It's great that he has his plans set out for the day he is 18,
but I don't care about that.
Track 4, another slow, odd, boastful song makes me want to fall asleep because
it is so simplistic. Track 5, a song with Jagged Edge (I believe) is a nice
little r&b song--It's very cute. But seeing how I have to be nice and relaxed
when listening to R&B music, at the moment it's making me fall asleep--it's not
entertaining me at all. Next comes Track 6 which is just downright boring. You'd
think since it had help from the Neptunes that it would at least be mildly
entertaining, but it isn't. This same pattern of slow, boring r&b songs continues
on until track 11, where the pace picks up and the rhymes get better. However,
by the next song, the listener is disappointed to be brought right back to the
slow sounds of r&b. The song, however, is a very sweet contribution to Bow's
mom, but it's not about my mom so I don't really care (yes, I am
very unsympathetic).
The CD ends with a bonus track which is almost as boring as the rest of the
CD. Overall, there are only 2 songs on this CD that are actually worth something.
Although I like Bow, this CD isn't what I expected and not something I personally
like that much. If you're into the whole slow, r&b thing, go buy it. But
if you're looking for the cute little boy with the cute songs like 'Bounce Wit Me',
just forget it. You'd be wasting you're $14.99 (or however much CD's go for these days)
which could go to another CD which is actually worth it.
